Secondary Bream Breaker

This part of  Beam Breaker will break secondary beams. Your piece needs 16th-notes triplets or shorter durations for the effect to be seen.

Ordinary 16th notes are only broken when you check "break groups of four notes".

In many cases, the settings need not be altered. This will break 16th-note sixtuplets in two groups of three. If you want to break 16th-note sixtuplets in 3 groups of two, you have to change the settings to break quarter notes into 3 parts.

  • supports odd time signatures such as 5/8 and takes tuplet definitions into account

  • support for time signatures with dotted beats such as 6/8

  • simplify beamed rests = automatic exclusion of rests from beam groups in specific rhythmical contexts.
When turning on Finale's document option to "include rests in beam groups", there are many cases where rests have to be manually excluded. This is automated by the option "simplify beamed rests". See example further down on this page.
